Votes and Notes!

***  Samantha walks into the room all calm and collected. As she turns to sit in the desk chair you see a smirk come across her face. Placing a piece of paper on the desk, she motions for you to come closer, and looking down you see the Avi Choice Award ballot. ***

Hey everybody! I wanted to take a moment and remember to vote for LUMIPro in the Avi Choice Awards. We need our LUMIPro army! We couldn't do this without your support. To cast your last minute vote just click here. Batting her lashes she leans in to whisper against your ear, "It would make me really happy if we surprised Stefan with another win this year. I know how much you all like making me smile."

I also wanted to remind everyone of the awesome Celebrate the Seasons photo contest we have going right now. It is a lot of fun, and it has some great prizes! To get all of the details just click here. As a reminder, please don't forget that contest entries must follow all the rules to be valid. I cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I have one more thing on my list to talk about... LUMIPro 2017! It will be officially released on December 10th! We are going to kick off the release with an awesome event at 7PM SLT that day. Don't forget to mark your calendar! I will be releasing more details soon.

If you have already purchased, or you are thinking about it, updates are always free. No worries! If you would like to learn more about what LUMIPro can do for you check out the 2016 overview. To see what is coming in 2017 check out our beta video

Don't Forget to Nominate!!!

*** Walks into the room almost tripping as she reaches the desk. Managing to catch herself she sits down the poster in her hand and smooths out her skirt. ***

That wasn't what I would call graceful, but I am excited! There is a week to go in the Avi Choice Nominations, and we need your help! We have been so fortunate to win the Avi Choice Award for Favorite Photography/Media Tool two years running. The category would not have even existed without the support of you guys!

I am sad to say that this will be the last year the Avi Choice Awards will be held. We would love to go out with one more award under our belt. If you guys love your LUMIPro nominate us! There are also many other great categories that you can nominate people in.

Here is a step-by-step on how to nominate:
1. You can find the nomination page for the arts here.
2. As you scroll down you'll see that the first thing they ask for is your Second Life name, don't worry it will be kept confidential, but it is required for a nomination to be valid.
3. As you scroll down you'll see all sorts of categories relating to the artistic endeavors in Second Life. The Favorite Photography/Media Tool nomination is the very LAST one on the page.
4. This is what a nomination for LUMIPro should look like: LUMIPro HUD, Stefan Buscaylet, https://my.secondlife.com/stefan.buscaylet
5. Last but not least click submit!

If you need any help at all please don't hesitate to message me, or a member of the LUMIPro team, in world. They will be taking nominations until October 12th. They are also taking nominations for the Fashion Awards and the SLIFE Awards, for more details on that you can check out the Avi Choice Award homepage.

Each nomination is important! I can not thank you enough for your continued love and support!

*** Carefully getting up from her seat at the desk, she arranges the voting poster, when she gets almost to the door she turns and looks over her shoulder with a smile. ***

Oh by the way we are going to be having our first gallery show very soon, but I will give you more details about that tomorrow. *** winks ***

Art Mimics Real Life

Now that the 2016 release is out, I thought i'd share a photo I shot tonight using LUMIPro.

Sometimes to get inspiration i use my tumblr of RL photos.  For this shot used this photo

About 15 minutes to get dressed.  30 minutes tweaking a pose using anypose.

If you notice the light is coming from the left and right side of her legs.  I used two projectors and used the blue light to add just a touch of lighting for her shoulders.

I set the windlight to 100% dark and the gamma to 0.01.

Here is the raw shot before photoshop

15 minutes in photoshop and done!

Total time little over an hour.  Thanks Sammie for lending me your booty and your patience.

Women and Brick Walls

---By Stefan

From concept to Flickr 90 minutes.  World tools: LUMIPro and AnyPose basic. Post shoot tools: NIK and Photoshop.  Skill: Medium to Advanced.

Every now and then I enjoy taking a RL photo that I like and then turn it into a SL shoot.

I had a grunge skybox but decided to find a new all texture.   A quick google image search found a decent texture that I ended up using.  BTW, if you tell google to only search for large images you'll find one that fits the bill as this image as 1600px x 1700px.

Here is the model in a preliminary pose with the prim set it place.  She's using the sitball wearing the ball lights and the projector.

The closet pose I could find was a female AO groundsit pose.

However it didn't give an ideal placement.  I had several people tell me about the AnyPose system and thought I'd give it a try.  I purchased it during the shoot and learned it real time.

Here is where I am after working with anypose (on top of my current female AO animation) and some tweaking of both the windlight and projector lighting.

If you want to recall and use this Anypose, just enter this into local chat

/1001 recall 01001818181818181818182315171217202221211721231322101916241524071818 <-0 data-blogger-escaped-.180000="">

<0 data-blogger-escaped-.000000=""> 131071+0

26 shots later I think I picked one I liked.

Little bit of cleanup and Black and White in Photoshop or Gimp done in under 5 minutes. You can always do more and that is personal preference.

That's it.  Start to finish was about 30 minutes of outfits and buying bracelets on marketplace.  30 minute setting up the shoot and about 30 minutes to learn the AnyPose, shoot and do the Photoshop.

Press Release LUMIPro Announces 3.3

LUMIPro promised you rainbows and after one of the longest and likely the most difficult beta programs for LUMIPro to date (10 beta releases to our testers) it is ready to go. So lets talk about what you will find in LUMIPro 3.3.

FROM THE DESK OF STEFAN:

One of the things that makes LUMIPro different than others is that LUMIPro is a living creation and is upgraded 3-4 times a year with new features and new capabilities. I'm excited to announce the 6th major release in the last 3 years .I've been thinking long and hard about whats next for LUMIPro. After recording a few of my own videos as well as talking with other customers, frankly I decided it was time to expand upon the use of color in lighting. This release is all about enhancing the color of lighting.

I studied several options for color pickers and got pretty much every color matching hud I could get my hands on. Talked with several people who use them for feedback.

Realizing that we're dealing with a very broad spectrum of people online from beginners to techies to RL photographers, I've been experimenting with a color user interface that made sense. After much discussion including discussing with a couple RL theatrical lighting friends, I decided to include several of the RL color gel catalogs as part of the user interface and a more simple RGB interface for the techies. I frankly like the color catalogs as there is 40+ years of picking these colors based on their success in real situations.

Check out the review at http://picsbypeep.com/2013/08/22/beta-testing-lumipro-with-color-picker/ .

There are a list of things that I cleaned up that have been bugging me personally as I used the LUMIPro in my own work, as well as customer feedback.

1. Rotation of the sit ball is now repetitive. just click and hold and it rotates

2. REM type checks and doesn't report errors with the talent TPs or logs out

3. No more derezzing the projectors or sitballs after 4 days. They announce and become visible. This was causing problems during set development that took longer than 4 days

4. The backup server deals with correct color names

5. Help->lighting details reports the correct model's colors, not just the owners colors.

6. Joystick (Navigator) steering the projector now has an icon vs transparent to address a viewer bug.

I was doing my first shoot with beta8 and wanted to re select the red ball and tweak the color and realized there was no way to tweak a color you always had to start again, so I reworked the hud to now allow the balls to report their current color so when you either change models or change balls the color picker restores the last used color.

I also added an information button that send you the the Lee Filter website so you can read about the RL filters.  Under RGB entry I also added the ability to enter a Lee Filter number and it will select that.

So, 100+ hours of coding , the LUMIPro team brings you your rainbows. As always follow the LUMIPro blog. LUMIPro. The manual is updated as well., this resource is the most comprehensive manual I've seen for a SL product and as always if you own the LUMIPro join the in world group for immediate help/solutions/tips/tricks or drop and note card to myself or Colleen Criss with any questions.

LUMIPro is a lighting system for Second Life .The 3.3 version added an entirely new color select method that utilizes the best lighting from RL and makes it available in Second Life.

Unified Heart 2013 @ Palais Orleans Gallery

After the phenomenal success of Unified Heart last January, we see this fabulous gallery show  back for a second round, and just as phenomenal  as the last.

For those who may not know  Leonard Norman Cohen, CC GOQ is a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, poet, and novelist. His work often explores religion, isolation, sexuality, and interpersonal relationships.

Some of the best and quite possibly some of your favorite singers have covered Cohen through the years.

It’s almost unbelievable now to think that we almost never heard Leonard Cohen, the singer. A well-regarded poet from the late 1950s through the mid-’60s, it was Judy Collins who encouraged the middle-aged Canadian writer to try his hand at performing his own songs, and the rest is history. She also had a successful cover of Cohen’s “Suzanne”. (from this article: 30 Great Covers of Leonard Cohen. )

My personal favorite  song from Mr. Cohen aside from Hallelujah is Dance Me To The End Of Love .

Morgana Nagorski, owner of Palais Orleans Gallery, works very hard to bring the best of the best of Second Life art and artists to us. She is also an artist herself and her work graces the pages of The Best of SL Magazine. Morgana says she "
has been a Leonard Cohen fan since her epiphany in 1974, when she woke in the middle of night to the strains of “That’s No Way To Say Goodbye” playing on the radio she had left on when she fell asleep."

With this gallery showcase of Cohen's work she received some good press and press from out of Second Life as well. You can read that article HERE

Please take the time to visit the Gallery, it is well worth seeing .

We at LUMIPro are so pleased and very honored to have sponsored this gallery.

FROM THE DESK OF STEFAN BUSCAYLET:
Creator of LUMIPro in Second Life

Palais Orleans Gallery Complex has held a special place in my heart as the birth of LUMIPro was through the collaborative works between me and the first curator of the gallery.  Although times have changed, my love of this gallery remains.  Their most recent showing of Unified Heart 2013 represents the works of Leonard Cohen.  A staggering 21 super stars of the art world were represented and I’m happy to report all of the artists are LUMIPro users and most used LUMIPro in this showing.  The buzz created by the show covered every major "who's who" in the SL world and was picked up by major syndication feeds.  And to top things off Morgana received press outside of SL!!   I'm stellar proud of the gallery's accomplishment and especially to Morgana personally who continues to be both a personal friend and supporter of arts and LUMIPro.  If you have not seen the gallery, I encourage you to make it there.  It’s something special.

Clash By Night 3 Final Chapter The Truth Revealed

Back at my office the luscious dame props her pert derrier on my desk with a cat that got the canary look that scares me she angles a saucy grin in my direction....

Darius : so toots what gives you that dangerous smile you have....something I don't know about?
Eli : well gumshoe I guess it's time to put you out your misery, I've had ya dangling long enough and frankly your easy to dangle
Darius: in a exasperated sigh "well spill the beans toots.....I begin to loose interest"

I watch the dame so self confident polish her long scarlet fingernails on her fur stole she blows a thin stream of smoke towards me

Eli : "listen and listen well gumshoe and straighten that slept in coat I'm about to tell you some home truths.....The LumiPro Cartel aint no bag of amateurs"
Eli :  I had to make sure your disheveled person could take these news
Eli: The Cartel are looking for someone
Eli: and not just anyone
Eli: Gallery Assis if the front for something bigger than you could imagine

I watch the dame draw on her cigarette deeply before looking around as if making sure no one is about in a whisper she leans into me I smell her expensive perfume my mind going to places it has no business being

Eli :  in a staged whisper she states with a smirk on her lips "Gallery Assis is going to be paying $5,000 Lindens split among 5 lucky people "
Eli: and here is the clincher tiger the Lumipro Cartel boss will be giving one Major Prize winner a complete LumiPro photography system

Darius : stunned his cigarette falls out of his mouth falling on his crumbled rain coat he pats himself as it starts burning through

Eli : looks at the crumbled detective noting that his raincoat has more holes than the St. Valentines Massacre

Darius : and what pray tell do these people have to do? Rob a bank?
Eli : Hell No Sugar, this aint no Bonnie and Clyde
Darius getting irate "WELL! what do they have to do!"

Eli : well darlin' it is very easy ....follow this here digits to this address  http://www.flickr.com/groups/assisfilmnoireroticacomp/ where all the details are as plain as the nose on your face

Darius : you mean to tell me this is the only place people can get these details?

Eli: with a raised eyebrow and mocking laugh "No sugar they can also go visit Gallery Assis where the details will be posted for everyone here at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cudjoe%20Keys/233/75/1016

Sitting back I stare at this dangerous broad that has led me on this wild goose chase in my search of answers, bullets bitting at my butt but you know what...I would do it all again for a chance that this wild cat comes back into my life....

The End

Clash By Night:

Mae Doyle D'Amato: You don't like women, do you?
Earl Pfeiffer: Take any six of 'em - my wife included. Throw 'em up in the air. The one who sticks to the ceiling, I like.

Gallery Assis ~ Clash by Night ~

As I grab the broads hand and we run for our lives I give her a smirk over my shoulder as we seek cover......having told her about the gossip

Panting for breath we lean against an old lamp post.....I light up a cigarette take a deep draw feeling the smoke fill my lungs I look to the broad next to me even in her frazzled state she still takes my breath away

Eli : in a sexy out of breath voice "can't do it alone...we need help"
Darius: rolling his eyes looks at the dame "who do you suggest we call Toots....the national guard"
Eli : Flipping her long lustrous hair over her shoulder looking at the disheveled detective with ever dwindling patience "I've been around the block gumshoe, don't under estimate a gal in a pretty dress - there are grey cells up here ya know"
Darius: with sarcasm dripping from his lips "well excuuse me toots if I have my misgivings.....please go on regale us with the name of your "contacts""
Eli: Glaring at the man beside her with a smirk on her lips says in a breathy voice making fun of him " we have ....Lincoln "The Professor" Garnet, Skip "Pretty Boy" Staheli, Molly "Ma" Bloom, Stephan "The Big Shot" Buscaylet"
Darius : tries not to look shaken as his cigarette falls out of his mouth patting down his rain coat as the fallen cigarette burns a hole in it knowing the names she let out was the Lumipro Cartel....with the big boss Stephan "The Big Shot" Buscaylet
Darius: swallowing hard having guessed the name of the dangerous broad next to him asks "and what do they call you toots?"
Eli: looks over her shoulder at the detective and in a deep purr "They call me Hellcat.....aint I always purring"
Eli: with a determined tone in her voice clutches her gun "we will silence these bastards once and for all"

Eli walks away with her heels clicking on the wet ground I have no other choice but to follow the truth has to be revealed and revealed soon

To be continued 29th December......

Clash by Night :

Earl Pfeiffer: Mae - what do you *really* think of me?
Mae Doyle D'Amato: [coolly] You impress me as a man who needs a new suit of clothes or a new love affair - but he doesn't know which.
Earl Pfeiffer: [stung] You can't make me any smaller. I happen to be pre-shrunk.
