LUMIPro's Gallery Features Immylicious Vicious!

This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with the very talented Immylicious Vicious. She is going to be LUMIPro's next featured artist! Her show is scheduled for Monday, August 19th at 7PM SLT. I hope everyone will come to check out her amazing work, but while you wat here is her interview...

I am so excited to have the opportunity to interview such an amazing artist! So first question… How did you hear about Second Life, and what got you started?

Immy: I heard about it through a co-worker/friend about 10 years ago.  They helped me set up my first avi and took me to hubs where people would chat and hang out.  I actually got frustrated right away because I had no idea what I was doing with my avi and where to go and what else to do, so I  quit right away.  Then something happened to me in RL that made me not want to really socialize in the RL much, so I picked it back up again because I am definitely a social butterfly.

I remember when I first started I think we all have experienced that frustration. What are some of the things that you love about Second Life? What keeps you coming back?

Immy: The first thing I fell in love with in Second Life was the music scene.  I had no clue there were dance clubs here, and when someone tp’d me to one I was floored.  I never left the rock club scene.  In fact, I also DJ.  Music is definitely my first and last love.

You DJ as well? I would love to catch a set sometime! You are definitely one of my favorite photographers. I love your work. What got you started?

Immy: Well I was inspired by many photographers I had been seeing already doing amazing work about 1.5 years ago.  The first person I can remember noticing their photos was my bro, Dar.  He gave me pointers to get me started and I started to follow the work of so many other wonderful photographers. I actually feel so odd being chosen for a gallery with so many other amazing artists out there that are hundreds of times better than I am.

I have always said photography is a journey it is not about being the best, but about where you are going. Why do you take photos? Are you trying to say something to the world?

Immy: It really started as an outlet for my anxiety and stress.  It still is, but I feel I have less stress and more happy in my life and now I just strive to learn new things and keep improving my work. If there’s any message to the world in my photos, is that if you keep trying and practicing you can improve.

I love that! When you decide you want to do a new photo what is your creative process like from start to finish?

Immy: It happens in several different ways really.  I could hear a song lyric and spin-off of that, see a meme somewhere and spin-off that, etc.  The long way would be thinking of an emotion or situation I’m going through at the moment, trying to find or even make the pose, of course, add the lighting, change graphics and look for the perfect windlight.  After all that is to my liking I save and of course, upload it into my editor.  And as far as editing goes, I really just play around with things.  I have watched a few tutorials on youtube for help and other artsy ideas, but I really learn best by doing.  Also, I don’t even use Photoshop, I use Polarr which nobody else seems to use.  Uploading to Flickr can be a challenge as well sometimes, finding the perfect title and maybe a song or poem to pair with it.  The more I’ve learned, the longer the process is.  Unless I’m lucky.  My best photo with the most favs on Flickr literally took me five minutes!

I will have to try that program. I always like to learn new things. What advice would you give to new photographers in Second Life?

Immy: Try everything.  I love seeing and learning new techniques and things to try.  Right now I’m in love with overlays for example.  Who knows what I’ll find tomorrow.  I don’t know about everyone else, but when I look at someone’s portfolio I like to see it all.

Do you have any photography inspirations in either Second Life or Real Life?

Immy: My amazing partner, Ajax, and music.

So how about we talk about the hud that brought us together, LUMIPro! How did you hear about LUMIPro, and what made you decide to take the plunge and get the HUD?

Immy: Well, I would notice in situations my avi was not as visible as I liked.  I would ask my brother, Dar for his input and he told me about this amazing gadget.  I saved up some linden from DJing and was able to purchase it shortly after.

I remember hosting and saving for my LUMIPro as well, lol. Do you have a favorite LUMIPro feature?

Immy: The entire thing is awesome, but I guess I would have to say the projector options.

If you could pick a new LUMIPro feature what would it be?

Immy: Hard to say...maybe more poses?

Well you know we are always looking for new animators to work with, and you can add your own as well. Thank you for indulging me and talking about LUMIPro. So tell me something else… Maybe share something our readers won’t know. What makes you who you are?

Immy: All of the things I have been through in life.  The pains and struggles all have made me the empathetic, social human being I am today.  I can only hope that everyone can take their pain and turn it into something beautiful.

That was beautifully said, and last but not least what are your hopes for your future in Second Life?

Immy: I just want to keep improving on my photos, DJing and having fun with my love, Ajax, and my awesome friends.

I had a wonderful time getting to know Immylicious! I really do hope we see everyone Friday. Well until then...

Here is your ride!

LUMIPro's Gallery Needs You!

Hey everybody! I know it's been a while since you've heard from me, you have to love that pesky real life. I was chatting with Stefan and Momo and we all decided the best way to get back in the swing of things is with a gallery show! It's exciting though because it's not just going to be one or two artists. It's going to be as many as we can manage! We would love to showcase many different styles and skill levels.

If you would like to participate here are the guidelines:

  • Please don't forget to have your work displayed in the show you must be a LUMIPro user.
  • Use LUMIPro! We would love to see some of the amazing art you guys create with it.
  • Postprocessing such as Photoshop is welcome but not required.
  • Each person can submit up to five photos. We can't guarantee we will hang every single one, but we will do what we can. Please make sure each photo is downloadable.
  • We will only be accepting photos for the show until July 18, 2019. So hop to it! (Extended to the 19th)
  • Please submit your photos to LUMIPro's Contest Group, and also make sure they follow our content standards.

There is no theme so have fun with it! I can't wait to see what you come up with. Gallery shows like this have always been my favorite.

The show will take place on July 21, 2019 (time to be determined).

If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact one of us in world.

Until next time... Be brave, be bold, be creative, and happy shooting!

What Is LUMIPro?

*** Samantha walks in wearing a big warm coat, a fluffy sweater, and boots. In one hand she is carrying a pitcher of beer and in the other hand, she has a big plate of wings. Carefully sitting them carefully down on the table she turns to you with a playful smile. ***

Why hello there! Whether the crazy weather has you stuck indoors or you are waiting to watch the Superbowl I thought this would be a great time to talk about what LUMIPro can offer your second life.

LUMIPro is a professional grade lighting tool and yet easy to start using the day you buy it.

- Fine control of lighting and shadows
- Ability to pose yourself and/or all your models and groups as large as 10
- Ability to save your scene lighting, camera, pose, and eye position and restore it on another day, even with different models
- Create and save your own favorite colors
- Shoot anywhere without rez even on no-script sims.  Great for product designers and bloggers
- Hold 100s of your own purchased or created animation or use over 200 animations and exclusive mocaps from some of the grid’s best designers
- Updates are always FREE for life

Since I purchased my LUMIPro in 2013 I have seen some amazing work created by various artists. I am always in awe of the work people create using LUMIPro. Let me share just a couple...

These photos barely scratch the surface of what LUMIPro users have created. To see more check out the LUMIPro Flickr Group. You can also find us on Marketplace. Here are some of the reviews you will find...

I'm very pleased with this lighting system. It is very versatile and easy to get started, but so many more options to get into and learn about as you get more familiar.

Great product with many options!

Awesome Photo Lighting System!!
Posted July 17, 2017 by CarlWeed 5 stars
LUMIPro is by far, the best lighting system in SL for photography that I have found. I have several other photo studio systems but none have the capabilities that LUMIPro has for lighting control with color, intensity, positioning, casting shadows, etc. for your photo shoots. The biggest selling feature to me is having the ability to take your lighting anywhere in SL and use it, including the no-rez areas of SL. I wanted to get out of my portrait studio but proper lighting was a problem. Now I have great lighting anywhere I shoot in SL! Other bonuses of the system are being able to control multiple models from the HUD without having to instruct them to move or change positions or anything. The system has many great built in poses (not the cheap ones either) that will get you going in no time with very professional looking photos. The eye control system is also another great tool to assist in getting those eyes just right for your shot. If you are serious about capturing great professional photos in SL, this photo lighting system is well worth the investment. It will be the last one you will ever buy I think. The one tip I would give anyone who buys this system and does not have previous experience with earlier versions of LUMIPro is... take maybe 30 minutes or so of your time and watch all of the great video tutorials on their website. They run through many of the features, as there are many, and they will give you a much better understanding of what all you can do with this system without a lot of reading. I had never used LUMIPro before and this is what I did after I purchased it. Within no time, I was off and shooting some great photos with this system. My hats off to the creator and developer of this system. Nice job!!

If you still aren't sure if LUMIPro is for you why not try a fully functioning demo at LUMIPro's World Headquarters? If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact Samantha Ansar-Buscaylet in world.

Oh and before I forget to our current LUMIPro users... Don't forget the upcoming Gallery Show!

Until next time... Be Bold, Be Creative, and Happy Shooting!

Another Great LUMIPro Spotlight!

*** She stumbles into the room, and she is definitely not wearing normal style, instead she has on cargo pants and a big poofy jacket. As you look closer you see that she's carrying a fishing pole. Sitting her tackle box and pole on the desk, she takes a seat and turns towards you with a smile. ***

As you guys can see it definitely hasn't been my typical weekend. While I was sitting out there on the boat I couldn't resist looking through the photos in LUMIPro's Flickr Group. With all of the great photographs that everyone has been posting, I felt like I had to rush right over and share some with you.

Let's get this party started...

LUMIPro Presents Athena!

*** Walks into the sales gallery to stand by the gallery sign for Athena. She smoothes out her dress before addressing the crowd with a smile. ***

I wanted to remind everyone of the show opening taking place in the LUMIPro gallery this afternoon at 3 PM SLT. We will be honoring one of our very own users, Athena Mariposa (athenaisc Resident).

I have seen a sneak peek of her photography, and I promise you will be disappointed! The show entitled "Lovers" takes you on a journey to explorer many different aspects of love through photography.

I hope we will see you all there! We will have our very own DJ LUMIPro, Mesostopheles there to keep you entertained. Just a small reminder this show does contain artwork of an adult nature so please no child avatars.

*** With a smile and a wave she sneaks into the next room to check over last-minute preparations. ***

A Big Thank You from LUMIPro and TexasRob!

Hello everyone! I am happy to report that our very first gallery opening was a success. The quality of work displayed by TexasRob was awesome, and it was so great to see so many of you come and show your support. I have a message from Rob for everyone, "I want to express my thanks to the LUMIPro staff and to everyone who came to the opening of the exhibit. I was overwhelmed at being chosen and by the show of support from my fellow photographers." If you want to find out more about the artist I interviewed Rob for Attention Magazine.

While Stefan was at the opening he grabbed a couple screenshots of the action.

Don't worry if you were unable to attend the opening, TexasRob's exhibit will be up at least until the 29th of October. I wanted to take a moment and share a few of the great photography you will find there...

If these don't make you want to go check it out, I am not sure what will! Here is a ride to get you there. I am so excited about getting to feature the photographers in our amazing community. You never know who might be next!

I also want to remind everyone to keep your eyes on the blog; we have some very exciting things coming up like... beta testing LUMIPro 2017!

LUMIPro Is Proud To Present TexasRob McRae!

*** Shuffles into the gallery still were in her pajamas, as she sits down on the desk she lightly blows on her cup of coffee to cool it. Looking up with a smile, she takes a sip, before addressing everyone. ***

Good morning everyone! I know it is super early, but I had to remind you about the gallery opening today! We are really excited to have created a way for you guys to showcase your work. Today at 2 o'clock SLT we will present you the awesome works of TexasRob McRae. Many of you know him from his work on the gobos in LUMIPro, but today I hope you will come check out his other artistic endeavors.

DJ Mesostopheles will be keeping you entertained this afternoon. He is going to be playing some great music while we all chat and put a big smile on Rob's face!

We are hoping this will be the first of many art shows that we host at LUMIPro World Headquarters. I'm not going to put a dress code, but please make sure you at least wear shirt. *** Laughs softly ***

I hope to see each of you there this afternoon, and don't forget to bring a friend!

Well I am going to finish my coffee, and get everything ready to go. I look forward to seeing everyone this afternoon! Until then... Happy Shooting!
