Gallery Assis Presents In Association with LUMIPro

,.-~*'¨¯¨'*·~-.¸-Gallery Assis Presents -,.-~*'¨¯¨'*·~-.¸
   In Association with LUMIPro

FloraClayflower - pulverized
---------------------------
'pulverized' is an interpretation of Olivier Valsecchi's photography series 'Dust'. Initially started as a tribute to Valsecchi, 'pulverized' morphed and took on a life of its own. The full series is 13 pieces. 7 images of a male embracing, dancing and slowly loosing himself and his identity into a cloud of dust. Finally he disappears completely. Nothing is left but an idea, a faint colour, a possibility.  Out of that something re-assembles. A figure heaves and shakes and feels it's way back out, but the body that emerges is the body of a woman.

Gallery Assis is showing my 7 favourites of the series. The disintegration/reintegration process is not as obvious but it is still there. The full series can be seen on flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/floraclayflower/.

Burk Bode -
---------------------------
Burk Bode. A former human that got digitized in 2007 and since then lives in the cyberspace. Some say he was a German before he entered the grid, but that can be a rumor and is of no interest where he(?) exists now. Making his living as shape maker, artist and bohemian.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
Pablo Picasso said "Everything you can imagine is real." He is right. Living in a world that is completely created from scratch just by the imagination of its residents you experience this. A place where you can invent yourself new every day and for a creative person a place where you MUST create yourself new every single day.

Gregor Tenk - The Muse
---------------------------
Just a little over a year ago Gregor Tenk "The Beast", began his sojourn into SL photography. Through the continuous evolution of learning the medium, from in world techniques to expanding post production knowledge there has been one constant source of inspiration. That source has inspired him to try new things, strive to be better, push past his own self prescribed safety latches and delve deeper into the art form he has come to love. "The Muse" is a series dedicated to that inspiration, capturing all of her inner beauty, sexuality & sensuality through the form of her avatar. "The Muse" is a series dedicated to his girl, his favorite model, his heart & his way of thanking her for her continued support, patience & the odd kick in the ass.

LUMIPro Spotlight

This LUMIPro Spotlight brought to you by Eli Wallace of Gallery Assis.

Skip Staheli - I adore Skips work, he is a master painter in edit. also one of the Assis Aeternum. For me, Skip captures emotion, he feels the image and never disappoints. This image is a preview of his current exhibit at Assis "No Air" - his love of creating shines through in every piece he does without fail, you can see the hours and hours of edit he puts in - would love to be a fly on the wall to see him at work in PS.

 *******************************************************

Emaline - This girl has talent, I have been watching her flikr for sometime now, has a good eye and good sense of lighting.

*****************************************************

Avid follower of Greg and Peppers Slideshow - always interesting to see what appears next, great concepts for images.

by Jessica Belmer

Adore the expression, mood and lighting here. A scene set, a story there.

 *****************************************************

Darius - Assis Aeternum . Dar is my right hand man at Assis and invaluable. I have watched his work develop which sometimes leaves my jaw on the ground. His attention to the tiniest detail sets him apart, always a pleasure to shoot with him. This shot was for the opening of Alecat Breda's exhibit Cirque du Freak - a charity event held at Assis for Childline.

*****************************************************

Lincoln Garnet - Assis Aeternum. LInc is a big advocate for Lumipro. When you look at his work - you can tell - Yea! thats a Lincoln Garnet. This image is one of the 3 images in his angel set.

By Corinne J. Helendale

WOW!! This is about as much as i can say about this image. The edit is fantastic and realistic, a lot of care and attention has been taken over this image - I adore it.

Soo always creates great styling and sets .

My final choice and this hit me hard. It;s beautifully shot and finished but the subject sad but very very effective - I would love to know what prompted this image.

Unified Heart 2013 @ Palais Orleans Gallery

After the phenomenal success of Unified Heart last January, we see this fabulous gallery show  back for a second round, and just as phenomenal  as the last.

For those who may not know  Leonard Norman Cohen, CC GOQ is a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, poet, and novelist. His work often explores religion, isolation, sexuality, and interpersonal relationships.

Some of the best and quite possibly some of your favorite singers have covered Cohen through the years.

It’s almost unbelievable now to think that we almost never heard Leonard Cohen, the singer. A well-regarded poet from the late 1950s through the mid-’60s, it was Judy Collins who encouraged the middle-aged Canadian writer to try his hand at performing his own songs, and the rest is history. She also had a successful cover of Cohen’s “Suzanne”. (from this article: 30 Great Covers of Leonard Cohen. )

My personal favorite  song from Mr. Cohen aside from Hallelujah is Dance Me To The End Of Love .

Morgana Nagorski, owner of Palais Orleans Gallery, works very hard to bring the best of the best of Second Life art and artists to us. She is also an artist herself and her work graces the pages of The Best of SL Magazine. Morgana says she "
has been a Leonard Cohen fan since her epiphany in 1974, when she woke in the middle of night to the strains of “That’s No Way To Say Goodbye” playing on the radio she had left on when she fell asleep."

With this gallery showcase of Cohen's work she received some good press and press from out of Second Life as well. You can read that article HERE

Please take the time to visit the Gallery, it is well worth seeing .

We at LUMIPro are so pleased and very honored to have sponsored this gallery.

FROM THE DESK OF STEFAN BUSCAYLET:
Creator of LUMIPro in Second Life

Palais Orleans Gallery Complex has held a special place in my heart as the birth of LUMIPro was through the collaborative works between me and the first curator of the gallery.  Although times have changed, my love of this gallery remains.  Their most recent showing of Unified Heart 2013 represents the works of Leonard Cohen.  A staggering 21 super stars of the art world were represented and I’m happy to report all of the artists are LUMIPro users and most used LUMIPro in this showing.  The buzz created by the show covered every major "who's who" in the SL world and was picked up by major syndication feeds.  And to top things off Morgana received press outside of SL!!   I'm stellar proud of the gallery's accomplishment and especially to Morgana personally who continues to be both a personal friend and supporter of arts and LUMIPro.  If you have not seen the gallery, I encourage you to make it there.  It’s something special.

The Splendor of Desire

THE EXHIBITION:  The Splendor of Desire

THE ARTISTS: Corinne Helendale and Jessica Belmer

My concept for Palais Orleans Gallery was, for each show, to have two artists collaborating on a theme, but Corinne and Jessica have taken the idea of collaboration to a whole new level.  Each piece had been worked on at every stage by both artists  and it has been really interesting being allowed a peek into their unique process and so exciting, over the last few months, watching images develop and evolve and then finally be chosen to form what is a very beautiful collection.

OPENING EVENTS:
Saturday, July 28th
            6:00 to 8:00 PM SLT

                        and

Sunday, July 29th
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM SLT

ARTISTS' STATEMENTS:
To desire is to be in a particular state of mind. It is a state of mind that is commonly associated with a number of different effects: a person with a desire tends to act in certain ways; feel in certain ways; and think in certain ways. If one desires water, one will get a glass of water; if one does not get a glass of water right away one will nonetheless feel the urge to do so; one will find the thought of water pleasant and one's current lack of water unpleasant; one will find one's thoughts repeatedly turning to the idea of water; one will judge that water seems like a good idea; and so forth and so on.

We thought these mechanisms of the mind to be rich ground to build visual narratives upon… and The Splendor of Desire is an exploration of various scenarios where Desire meets conflict, uncertainty or joy.

When Morgana asked us to do this show, we of course welcomed the chance. The idea of collaborating on a whole series of images based on desire seemed challenging and compelling.  What happened, though, was way more than what either of us ever expected—we essentially created a third "artist" who was greater than the sum of the two of us.

We incorporated play into our work, and while some of it can be seen in the images, mostly it just rippled through the whole process. We developed each piece together, from concept, to shoot, to final processing. Our images would come from anywhere—anything from a whim to a structured series with a story to tell. We would build sets to match our vision, create scenes, make poses, create textures—everything and anything needed to flesh out the narrative of the images we were exploring.

Collaboration took hold of us and brought us to places we never could have reached on our own.

Many thanks to Morgana Nagorski for believing in us and allowing us the opportunity to exhibit in Palais Orleans. All image-making was completed in our studios with the exception of one shot imaged at Roche and another at Neva River.

We hope you enjoy the work, and have as much fun exploring and engaging the images as we had making them.

STATEMENT FROM THE SPONSOR
A warm welcome from LUMIPro—the sponsor of "The Splendor of Desire"

I'm happy to announce LUMIPro's ongoing sponsorship of arts in Second Life. Morgana Nagorski and Palais Orleans Gallery is hosting an art showing, "The Splendor of Desire," featuring Jessica Belmer and Corinne Helendale.

Corinne is someone I call a close friend, and our working  together in the development of the LUMIPro lighting system has been amazing. I personally consider this show a triumph of that collaboration!

I have a personal fondness for Palais Orleans, as the previous owner of the gallery and I were early collaborators on LUMIPro. I'm proud to help continue her legacy.

Morgana Nagorski is an avid LUMIPro user and advocate to the art world, and I'm excited that LUMIPro gets a chance to be involved with her.

Jessica and Corinne used LUMIpro extensively throughout "The Splendor of Desire," from the wearable lights to countless projectors.

LUMIPro is a professional lighting and pose system for artists, photographers, and machinimists. The system has been used for several magazine covers so far in 2012 as well as some of the leading art and music videos. Come check out a demo of our system and the blog and check out our Flickr Group.

Thanks for coming!
